A turn-based strategy war game where players lead Roman legions in conquering the Italian peninsula. Players engage in various scenarios of conflicts fought by the Roman Republic, taking on the role of the dictator for the Roman civilization during its ancient age before becoming the largest empire in the world.

The game draws inspiration from earlier hexagon-based strategy games like Fantasy General, Panzer General, and Battle for Wesnoth, as well as more recent titles such as Uniwar. It incorporates elements from Civilization/Freeciv while faithfully following known historical events with some creative interpretation for entertainment.

The game takes players back nearly two millennia to ancient Rome's beginnings, highlighting the rise of the Roman Empire through conquests and struggles. Players lead Roman legions in battles against neighboring warlords, mirroring the historic expansion wars of the Roman Republic.

The second campaign allows players to take on the role of Carthaginian commander Hannibal during the Second Punic War, showcasing his remarkable military conquests that almost reached the gates of Rome.
